The officiant for this marriage being A. Palmer. The list is for the year ending December 31, A.D. 1865. Chas. de Blaquiere, 46, born England, residing Woodstock. Parents Hon. P. B. de Blaquiere and Eliza de Blaquiere. C. Dora Bettridge, 25, born Canada, residing Woodstock. Parents Wm. and Mary Bettridge. Witness Edw'd Ambrose, Woodstock On Apr. 10, 1865, by A. Palmer. We will note here that the witness, Edward Ambrose, is almost certainly the Edward Ambrose who is buried in Old St. Paul's Anglican Cemetery, Woodstock. The cemetery transcription (see notes under Charles De Blaquiere) shows his death on October 11, 1865, at age 31. He was 'manager of the Gore Bank, in this place'. |

Physician and informant F. B. Wilkinson. An index exists for Oxford County, Ontario, wills. This shows the following: Caro. De Blaquiere, residence England, widow, death 1899-1902, Reg. 11, ref. 632 Caroline D. de Blaquiere, residence England, widow, death 1901, reel 1613, estate 3561*i The first item represents an entry in register 11. The entries are numerical and 632 will be the referred number. Court clerks made copies of wills in large registers. The second item, shows a microfilm reel number, which may or may not the the same referenced number as indexed in desk volumes at the Archives of Ontario. Only a search there will tell, but, probably, an original of the will is there. More interesting is the reference to Dora's residence in England. Dora (shown as Caroline) de Blaquiere, is with her Bettridge parents in Woodstock as of the 1871 census. She has not been found in a Canadian census thereafter - for the very good reason that she was in England, as the will index suggests.
