Susannah Husband

ID # 7376, (1844-)
FatherRobert Husband (1794-1867)
MotherSusannah Elizabeth Aikens (1805-1869)
BaptismSusannah Husband was baptized in October 1844.
MarriageShe married William E. Decew on 19 September 1865 at Waterdown, Flamborough East Township.
A record of this marriage has not been found in the County Marriage Registers, typically on the MS248 series of microfilm reels. Where a record has been found is in a publication entitled Wentworth County United Churches, formerly Congregational, Methodist, and Presbyterian, assembled and published in 2013 by the Halton-Peel and Toronto branches of the Ontario Genealogical Society.

This particular marriage is listed under marriages for the Waterdown Methodist Circuit, 1858-1876.

Waterdown is in what was then Flamborough East Township of Wentworth County, which bordered Nelson Township in Halton County, wherein resided the bride's family. It's entirely possible that the marriage was conducted at the residence of the bride's parents, but this isn't stated, and so, for the moment, the marriage is shown as being held in Waterdown.

Groom: W. E. Decew, 26, born and residing Canada. Parents Robert and Margaret Decew.
Bride: Sussana Husband, 20, born Canada, residing Nelson. Parents Robert and Sussanah Husband.
Witness J. Zimmerman of Nelson.
On 19 September, 1865, by J. Scott.

Both Wentworth and Halton county registers as well as indexes have been searched for this marriage, but not found. Interestingly, the format presented in the above record strongly suggests that the clergyman entered the record of the marriage on a county registration form. Some clergy did use the form, both for submission to the civil authority and for their own church records.
