Marriage 6 June, 1823, at St. John's, Limerick, County Limerick, Ireland. George Husband and Mary Ferr.

DeathShe died in 1840.
NoteShe Joseph William Husband's marriage registration identifies his mother as Mary Phayer. The handwriting of the county clerk is questionable, but, making comparison with other entries, it certainly does appear that the intended entry was 'Phayer'. Keep in mind that at the best of times, these entries represent the clerk's comprehension of the reporting clergyman's handwriting.

The name Phayer has yet to be found at all in the 1851 or 1861 censuses. Phair and Fair do appear and Farr is to be found.

Thayer is to be found rather extensively in the 1851 census, but Thair is found in Walpole Township in Haldimand County and some Husband family members did spend time in Walpole, including son Richard. He does not appear in a Walpole census, but two of his daughters, Matilda in 1856 and Elizabeth in 1859, were born in Walpole.

It is now reasonably settled that George's second wife, Mary, was a Phair, or Phayer. The spelling of the family name was sufficiently variable that we won't split hairs...or Phairs...or however one might wish to express it!
