| Baptism | Louisa James was baptized on 9 November 1846 at St. Mary, Kensington, Surrey, England. |
| Marriage | She married Clark Yuker on 1 October 1867 at Welland County. MS248 reel 17, Vol. 77, page 64 Welland County Marriage Register Extracted from a list of marriages solemnized by the Rev. W. E. Cooper, a minister of the Anglican Church of Canada, fyled on 27 January, 1868, for 1867 marriages. Clark 'Yaker' and Louisa James, both residing Welland. Witness Wm. Lewis of Port Colborne, on Oct. 1, 1867. The information provided in the above marriage is rather more minimal than typical for this era. Ages of the parties, places of birth and parental information have been omitted. The exact location of marriage is not usually provided in county marriage registrations. Fuller marriage information has been sought in church records, but not found. As the marriage was Anglican, it seems likely that it was held in the bride's church. The 1861 census at Clifton (now part of the city of Niagara Falls), seems to show the James family as being Anglican, though the entry isn't as clear as usual. By 1875, the family of Clark and Louisa is evidently Wesleyan Methodist, for there is a baptism record in this church for three of their children, all baptized on the same date. |
