The county marriage registrations do not typically tell the exact location of marriage. Christian and Maria may have been married in St. Catharines, but it is rather more likely that they were married at the home of a family member. |

Place of death Vineland, Township of Louth. Retired. Father Abram H. Moyer, born Clinton Township, and Barbara Honsburger, born Louth Township. Physician Dr. A. H. Addy. Certified by Rowland J. Moyer, Vineland, Ont. The February 3, 1910, edition of the Gospel Herald has an obituary for Christian. This names his first wife as Maria High, and also his second wife as Barbara Rittenhouse. It agrees well with the information as it appears on the death registration. It goes on to tell that he had lived for many years on the 'old homestead' near Campden, but had lived for the last seven years at his new home near Vineland. What follows is perhaps a bit of a quibble, but should be mentioned. The death registraion locates Christian's death at Vineland. The obituary tells that he had lived in later years near Vineland. Vineland is in what was Clinton Township, close to the border of Louth Township. A post office was not established at Vineland until 1894. That Vineland appears as a place of death in Christian's death registration rather more likely represents a postal address. His death registration was filed in Louth and this is where his death almost certainly occurred. |
