NoteWhen Henry married Sarah Antoinette Bell in 1878, he gave 'Rideau' as his place of birth. Just what was intended is difficult to say, but it seems reasonable to believe that he meant that he was born on or near the Rideau River. As mentioned in notes for Jehial Hurd, Henry's father, the every person census for Osgoode Township in Carleton County has not survived. The agricultural census, however, has survived. This places Jehial on lot 4 of the 1st concession of Osgoode. This would not be directly on the Rideau, but not so far away.

When Henry died in Detroit in 1925, his wife Sarah A. Bell, so shown, tells that Henry's place of birth was Ottawa. Again, this is probably not entirely accurate, but, again, not a great distance away. (See notes for father Jehial.) We probably do not have the full story, but given that Henry was born some seven years prior to the 1851 agricultural census, begun in January of 1852, chances are such that it's likely that he was born in Osgoode Township.

Henry's first wife, Ann Jane McTavish, whom he married in 1864, died in 1875. A death registration for her has not been found, but she is buried in Thornby-Clarksburg Union Cemetery and, evidently, in the same plot as Henry's parents. Henry was buried there in 1925. Per Find-a-Grave, Henry's second wife, Sarah Antoinette Bell, is buried in British Columbia.

Henry's name appears on the family gravestone in Thornbury with those of his parents. The piller stone was probably erected some years after the passing of his mother in 1864, but does have the advantage or presenting her maiden name, Kilburn.
