Lucas of Preston, Ont. Rev. Charles Lucas was the minister at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Preston. The marriage was registered in North Dumfries Township and probably was held at a family farm. Esther's mother's maiden name appears on the registration, quite clearly typed, as Whipner. This is probably a problem with the clergyman's handwriting, for her correct surname was Witmer. |

| Note | Birth reg. 034170-90 Waterloo Twp., Waterloo Co. Esther Victoria Wanner born May 24th, 1890. Parents John Wanner, farmer, and Mary Ann Witmer. Physician Dr. Ochs. Informant father. The handwriting on the form is poor in spots and this resulted in it being badly indexed. Beyond that, looking at Esther's date of birth, it isn't difficult to see why she received 'Victoria' as her middle name. |
