Marriages by Rev'd George Ferguson
Wesleyan Methodist

Abra'm Masters, to Lucinda Clemens, both of Waterloo. 13 Aug, 1842
by banns. Rev. Ferguson.
Wit. Henery Heygeyl, David Clemens, Cathrine Marten, and Isaac Master

Abram and Lucinda were probably residents of Waterloo Township (as opposed to the village of Waterloo) at the time of their marriage. By the time of the 1851 census, they were inWilmot Township.

The Wellington District marriage register is not to be found
on the MS248 series of microfilm reels as recorded at the Archives
of Ontario, but the lost register was found in a bookstore and purchased by the finder who recognized it for what it was and who then donated it to the Wellington County Museum at Fergus. The museum has it on microfilm and this was the source for the compilation of the abovebook, which is also to be found in digital format.

DeathHe died on 7 July 1853 at Wilmot Twp., Waterloo Co., at age 35.
NoteSee bottom page 78 of Ezra Eby's Vol. 2, A Biographical History of Waterloo Township, etc., 1895. Nbr. 4673 reads: Master, Abraham, was born April 11th, 1818. He resided in Wilmot Township where he died July 7th, 1853. His wife was Lucinda, daughter of Yankee David Clemens. They had two children, namely: David and Mary Ann.

The 1851 census in Wilmot Township shows Abram Master, age 34, a sawyer, born America. His wife Lucinda, age 29, is shown as born in Canada. No religious affiliation is shown for Abram, but Lucinda is shown as a Wesleyan Methodist. With them are son David, age 10, and Mary Ann, age 4.

A place of burial for Abraham has not been found.
