William Farrar, 25, bachelor, commercial traveler, Christadelphian. Born Southowram, Yorkshire, England. Parents John and Elizabeth Farrar.
Jane Tilt, 22, spinster, Christadelphian. Born and residing Waterloo Township. Parents John and Caroline Tilt.
Witnesses: Irwin Watson and Bella Tilt, both of Township of Waterloo.
On June 27th, 1877, at Township of Waterloo, by Rev. George Haigh, Pres. Min. By License.

George Haigh was the Presbyterian minister for the two-point charge of Doon and Hespeler. Bit of a guess, but the marriage was probably held in the vicinity of Doon, perhaps at the Tilt residence. The couple are shown as both being Christadelphian. The marriage by a Presbyterian minister probably had to do with convenience of location.

The name of William's birth place was not immediately decipherable. Between baptism information as well as an internet search it becomes identifiable.

DeathHe died on 20 July 1926 at Hamilton, Barton Twp., Wentworth Co., at age 74.
BurialHe was buried at Bayview Cemetery Mausoleum, Burlington, Halton Co..

Married. Age 74 yrs., 6 mos., 21 dys. Born England December 29, 1851. Merchant Taylor. In Canada 55 years. Parents John Farrar and Elizabeth Clegg, both born England. Physician A. G. McGhie, 250 Main St. E. Informant R. W. Farrar, 42 Hilda Ave., son. Place of burial Brantford (?), July 21st, 1926

William's date of birth on his death registration is shown as December 29, 1851; the 1901 census shows it as December 28.

William's death registration for some reason places his burial in Brantford. This is not correct. William (and later his wife Jane) were placed in what was originally the Hamilton Mausoleum in East Flamborough Township of Wentworth County. The Halton County branch of the Ontario Genealogical Society has a transcription of this cemetery, now named Bayview Cemetery and Crematory, and the title page explains that since the establishment of Regional Government this is now in Burlington, Nelson Township, Halton County. This is located on Spring Garden Road in Burlington and is on the Hamilton and Burlington borderline and across from the Royal Botanical Gardens.

Thanks are much due to Find-a-Grave for photos of the inscriptions in the mausoleum and which led to the finding of the location of William and Jane's burials.
