When Jane married William Whitstone in 1879, clearly she was previously married. Her parents are shown as Richard and Jane Kidd, but she is shown as a widow and her previous married name was Montgomery. No marriage registration for her first marriage has been found. No clear census information has been found showing her with her first husband.

No death registrations have been found for Jane or for William.

William's surname appears to be Whitstone per the death registration. A brief marriage notice appeared in the January 1st, 1880, edition of the Canadian Baptist and this spells his name as Whitstone. William, however, died in 1886 (per Find-a-Grave) and his name is spelled on the gravestone as Whetstone. Find-a-Grave provides a photo of this stone. He is buried with his first wife Bridget Cooney who died in 1879.

No record of death or burial has been found for Jane Kidd. That she might have been buried in the same cemetery as her parents has been considered, but a transcription of the cemetery, dating in part back to the 1980s, has been obtained and Jane does not appear therein.
