At first glance, the casual reader might take it that showing Solomon Harrison as Martha's first husband is a guess. The evidence isn't ideal, but seems reasonably conclusive. See notes for Martha as well as the record of her second marriage.

We do take the year of Solomon and Martha's marriage from the 1861 census. There is a column on this census form that is for the entry of the year of a couple's marriage and the year of marriage for Solomon and Martha Harrison, residents of Etobicoke Township, is shown as 1832.

The transcription of St. Philip's Churchyard Cemetery in Etobicoke Township, shows Solmon's gravestone immediately next to that of Martha's parents, Richard and Jane Kidd. This tells that Solomon Harrison died at age 61 on June 6, 1868.

The 1851 census shows Martha and Solomon Harrison in Maryborough Township of Wellington County. Both are shown as being born in England. Both are said to be of the Church of England. No children are present and no evidence for children has been found.

The 1861 census in Etobicoke Township, York County, provides essentially the same information, only adding the fact that they were married in 1832.

By 1868 Solomon is deceased and by the time of the 1871 census, Martha Harrison is shown as living on her own in Etobicoke Township. Here, she is shown as a Primitive Methodist. In 1871 a James Randle Nason published a directory of York County that included Etobicoke Township. This lists Martha Harrison as a tennant at Humber in Etobicoke and appears to show her (if this interpretation is correct) at concession 2, lot 39 west.

On 12th November, 1874, at Toronto, Martha Harrison, widow, born England, daughter of Richard and Jane Kidd, married widower Alexander Bryson, born Ireland and residing Lindsay.

A death registration for Martha has not been found.
