| Note | According to an obituary provided by Manitoulin Genealogy, Elizabeth died on 21 November, 1953. Her death apparently occurred while she was in Little Current Hospital where she had been for some three days after suffering a minor scald to her leg. The obituary tells that she would have been 98 the following January 10th. This agrees with the 1911 census at Allan Township which dates her birth to January of 1856. It also tells that she was born in Thornbury and that she came to Manitoulin Island at age 17 with her parents. Her funeral is mentioned, but not dated. A place of burial is not shown. Since Manitoulin Genealogy shows her husband John to be buried in Gordon Cemetery as well as some of her children, it seems most likely that this is where Elizabeth is buried. In perhaps another three or four years, the Archives of Ontario will make available death registrations for 1953 and more information may be forthcoming. |
