     John James Wild was known as Jim.1 He was born on 25 March 1924 in St Paul, Ramsey County, Minnesota.2 He was the son of Raymond Eugene Wild and Mary Jane Hamilton.3 He married Elizabeth Mary Ghizoni on 27 December 1944.4,5 Jim played hockey for the University of Minnesota and in at least one year he was the team's leading scorer.1 He was a physician and ophthalmologist. He began his practice in Wyoming, but moved to Tucson, Arizona after obtaining his specialization in ophthalmology.1,6 He died on 20 April 1999 in Tucson, Pima County, Arizona, at age 75.6,2

Jim's obituary in the Tucson Citizen, Tucson, Arizona, on 26 April 1999 read:
"Dr John James "Jim" Wild died on April 20, 1999 surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Elizabeth (Lyd) Wild; six children and their spouses: Kathryn Wild (Larry Loucks), Elizabeth (Larry) Leber, Barbara Sprotte, Mary Jane (Bruce) Turner, John (Maureen) Wild, Raymond (Cathy) Wild, 24 grandchildren and one great-grandson. Dr Wild was preceded in death by his brother, Dr Paul R. Wild of St Paul, Minnesota. He was active at St Elizabeth of Hungary Eye Clinic, Salpointe Men's Club, Salpointe Booster's Club, the Association for the Blind, and Tucson Country Club. He was a 1945 graduate of the University of Minnesota Medical School, where he lettered for three years in hockey. For nine years, Dr Wild practiced general medicine in Sheridan, Wyoming. He specialized in Ophthalmology at the University of Indiana in 1957 and practiced in Tucson, Arizona for 30 years. Jim Wild, a wise and gentle man, will be remembered as a beloved husband, father, grandfather, doctor, teacher, fisherman and golfer. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Salpointe Catholic Education Foundation, 1545 E Copper St, Tucson, Arizona 85719 or the Community Food Bank, PO Box 26727, Tucson, Arizona 85726. A Memorial Mass will be held at Sts Peter and Paul Catholic Church, (on Campbell across from University Medical Center), 10:00 am, Friday, April 30th. Arrangements by WOLFREY PEACE CHAPEL, 881-0338."6
