Benjamin Graves was born on 25 July 1769 in East Haddam, Middlesex County, Connecticut.1,2 He was the son of Roswell Graves and Elizabeth Driggs.1,2 He married first Lucy Arnold, daughter of Joseph Arnold and Hulda Hubbard, on 24 November 1790 in Millington Church, East Haddam, Middlesex County, Connecticut.1,3 He was ordained on 3 Oct 1803 and served as pastor of Old South Church in Middletown, Connecticut for 30 years. He married second Esther Miller, daughter of Joshua Miller and Anna Starr, on 25 August 1810. He died on 25 August 1830 in Middletown, Middlesex County, Connecticut, at age 61.1
