| Note | At the time of the 1851 census in South Dumfries Township of Brant County, Warner is shown with his parents, John and 'Esibell'. He is shown as age 11 and the family's religious association is shown as Methodist. By 1861, Warner, age 21, is in Beverly Township in the household of William Culham. Also present is Ellen Culham, age 20. The Culham family are shown as being United Brethren. In 1871, Warner and Emma, both age 29, are shown as United Brethren and with them is daughter Isabella, age 4. At some point after Emma's death in 1872, apparently with brother Edward, Warner went to Adrian in Lenawee County, Michigan. There, he met and married Margaret Virginia Davis on August 11, 1874. Edward was a witness to the marriage. Warner and Margaret were still in Adrian when son Frederick was born in 1876. By 1881, Warner is back in Beverly Township with Margaret, Isabella, and his new family. He is shown as farm labour. Later in 1881 and still in Beverly, daughter Lena is born. As of the 1891 census, Warner and Margaret are in Stratford, Perth County, Ontario, with, evidently, Margaret's mother, Elizabeth, age 80. Also with them are Isabell, age 24, Fred, age 14, and Lena, age 9. In 1892, Isabella married John Pratt of Stratford. (The handwriting of the registering clerk in Stratford is a challenge to decipher. It's an advantage to be able to work with indexing provided by both Ancestry and Familysearch. What one organization's indexing team can't decode, the other will sometimes succeed.) Warner and Margaret are still in Stratford in 1901 and Frederick and Lena are with them. |
