It refers to FHL film nbr 6010973.

NoteHe The following records are shown which include James.
The 1851 census shows the family in North Dumfries thus:
John McKenzie 37, Margaret McKenzie 29, John 7, James 3, William 2, also Ellen McKenzie age 73, and Margaret Keachie age 14.

James is also present with the family in North Dumfries for the 1861 census:

John McKenzie 46, Margaret 38, John 16, James 12, William 11, Alexander 9, Elizabeth 7, Thomas 3, Eleanor 1, also Eleanor age 83.

In North Dumfries in 1871, pages 34 and 35, the family is shown:

John McKenzie 55, Margaret 48, John 25, William 20, Elizabeth 16, Thomas 12, Ellen 10, Mary 8, Margaret 6, Augustus 4, James 22, Alexander 18.

An obituary for Margaret Buchanan McKenzie from 1899 (masthead and date not available) places James in San Francisco.

It may be that the James B. McKenzie, born in Canada, age 31, working in a sash factory in Marysville, Yuba, California, as shown in the 1880 census, is the James of this record. There is also a James McKenzie who appears in San Francisco in the 1900 census married to a Jennie. They have a son Alexander Harding McKenzie.

A McKenzie family correspondent identifies the wife of James McKenzie in California as Jennie Harding and states that they had a son Alexander Harding McKenzie. This works with the 1900 and 1910 censuses in San Francisco.

It's tempting to believe that James is the husband of Jennie McBean who died in Portage La Prairie, Manitoba in 1890 and who is buried with her McBean family in section 2 of Mountview Cemetery in Galt. She is shown as the wife of James McKenzie. There is a James McKenzie, widower, in Portage La Prairie in 1891 and by 1901 this James has remarried. He is probably the husband of Jennie McBean.

We only show James as the husband of Jennie Harding, but we cannot entirely rule out a previous marriage to Jennie McBean. Unquestionably, the McBean and McKenzie families were neighbours in North Dumfries and James McKenzie, son of John and Margaret, and Jennie McBean would have known each other.

Considering that a marriage for James, son of John and Margaret, and Jennie McBean has never been found, the Manitoba angle so far as James McKenzie is concerned is unlikely.
