Lucas, Markdale. The doctor who delivered George, Angus Ego, had, two years previously, married Elizabeth Leece Buchanan, Theron Buchanan's daughter. Elizabeth was the aunt of Greta Hunter who eventually married George Lucas. Years later, Greta Hunter was a witness at the marriage of Elizabeth Delphine Ego, the daughter of Angus Ego. Death reg. 027086-32 Pointe au Baril, Parry Sound Dist. George Kendall Lucas, age 37, born 1895, Markdale, Ontario. Lawyer. At place of death one month. Residence Toronto. Parents Isaac Benson Lucas and Eliza Richardson, both born Ontario. Informant Leonard Blackburn, 8 Austin Crescent, Toronto, cousin. Died September 5, 1932. Cause of death: Acute dilation of heart. Died suddenly while attempting to rescue his child who had fallen from their motor boat. The date of burial is given as September 8, 1932, and said to be in Toronto. According to further information about George's death as it appears in the Toronto newspapers, George was not buried in Toronto, but in Markdale Cemetery, Markdale, Ontario. Also, newspaper accounts indicate that the child who fell overboard was successfully rescued and survived. |
