|Note||For the moment, the name 'Hawzlett' is as shown on the his marriage registration. Handwriting on census information is not always clear, but his name 'Hawzlett' does appear to show as such on some census years. 'Hazlett' has also been found.|
As of the 1881 census, Hawzlett and Mary were in Gravenhurst in the Muskoka District. Hawzlett is shown as a laborer. They have with them son Joseph, age 1.
By 1891, they are in Huntsville in the Muskoka & Parry Sound District. Hawzlett is now shown as a carpenter and they have with them six children.
The 1901 census in Chaffey Township shows the addition to the family of daughter Lilley. Birth dates for the children are shown in this census, but we take dates of birth from their birth registrations. Daughter Lilley's date of birth has an error. She is shown as a daughter to the family, age 8, and born in 1822. Her birth registration correctly shows her year of birth as 1892.
In 1911, Hawzlett and Mary are still in Chaffey Township, but by 1916 they are in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
A registration of birth in 1895 for a son, Isaac, has been found. He is not found in later census enumerations and a death registration has not been found.
