Lincoln County Marriage Register

Extracted from a list of marriages solemnized by Rev. James Shaw, a minister of the Canadian Wesleyan Methodist New Connexion Church

John Anderson, 25, born and residing South Dumfries. Parents Daniel and Christie.
Adaline Pickard, 24, born Niagara, residing St. Catharines. Parents Nicholas and Minerva.
Witness Eli Gregory, residence Lincoln.
On March 14th, 1861.

The handwriting on the above registration is mostly readable. 'Minerva', the name of Adaline's mother, is difficult to read, but seems the best interpretation.

The residence of the witness, Eli Gregory, is only shown as Lincoln County. Actually, there is an Eli Gregory in Louth Township of Lincoln County in the 1861 census. He is a farmer and, apparently, a member of the Methodist New Connexion church.

The above isn't entirely accurate. John was not buried in Paris Cemetery, but in the Maus Cemetery, sometimes known as Paris Plains Cemetery. This is a short distance north of the town of Paris.

John and his two wives are buried with his parents, Daniel Anderson and Christy McPherson.
