Informant M. Snider of Guelph. The above is a fairly early example of a birth registration. These did not come into existence until July 1, 1869. The above was filed by M. Snider on September 8th, 1869. Also note that Bertha's middle name is shown as Melvina on her birth registration and Matilda on her death registration. Apparently, Annetta's middle name was Matilda and this may have resulted in some confusion when M. Snider filed Bertha's death registration some days after Annetta's. Certainly, Lorilla had a sister Malvina who died in 1860, so the middle name 'Malvina' is reasonably correct. Death reg. 016725-71 Town of Guelph, Wellington Co. Bertha Matilda Snider died April 25, 1871. Age 1 yr., 9 mos., 11 dys. Born Guelph. W. Methodist. Cause of death scarlet fever. Physician Dr. Keating. Informant M. Snider. Note that the information in the deaths of both Annetta and Bertha was M. Snider. This we must believe to be Michael Snider, the children's grandfather. The children are buried with their grandparents, Michael and Elizabeth, in Woodland Cemetery in Guelph. Michael died in 1878 and Elizabeth in 1884. |
