Hope Cemetery, March 12. A transcription of Mount Hope Cemetery shows Andrew's year of birth to be 1846. No other address is provided. The 1901 census at Port Elgin, however, shows his date of birth to be June 18, 1845. Ancestry provides us confirmation of this with his baptism record. This is in a database entitled Baden, Germany, Lutheran Baptisms, Marriages, and Burials, 1502-1985, and which reads: Georg Andreas Filzinger, male Birth Date 18 Jun 1845 Baptism Date 22 Jun 1845 Baptism Place: Rappenau, Baden (Baden-Württemberg), Preußen (Germany) Father Konrad Filzinger Mother Margaretha Filzinger Parish as it Appears: Michelfeld Page Number:194;195 Andrew's date of birth as shown on his baptism record is in agreement with his date of birth as shown on his entry in the 1901 census at Port Elgin. The 1901 census also states that Andrew came to Canada in 1862. These years as shown are not always accurate, but this may be correct. |
