Robert Hamilton was born about 1830 in Ireland.1,2 He was the son of John Hamilton and Rose McCarney.1 He immigrated to Ontario with his parents John Hamilton and Rose McCarney in 1847.3 He was a schoolteacher.1,2 He married Rachel Bruce on 8 January 1866 in Renfrew County, Ontario.4 He died on 22 June 1913 of senility in Lot 30, Con 9, Collingwood Twp, Grey County, Ontario.2
