Paul R Wild

ID# 5147, (1926-1991)
Paul R Wild was born on 21 December 1926 in St Paul, Ramsey County, Minnesota.1,2 He was the son of Raymond Eugene Wild and Mary Jane Hamilton.2 Like his brother Jim, Paul played hockey for the University of Minnesota.3 He was an especially good skater. He had the honor of being named to the U.S. Hockey team for the 1948 Olympics in St Moritz, Switzerland. Unfortunately it became somewhat of a debacle since there were two teams, one sponsored by the Amateur Athletic Union (Paul's team) and another sponsored by the Amateur Hockey Association. Both went to Switzerland intending to play, but in the end, the AHA team competed in the games and Paul's participation was limited to marching in the opening ceremonies. Paul later signed a contract with the Chicago Blackhawks, but he never played professionally.3 He was a dentist in St Paul, Ramsey County, Minnesota.3 He died on 23 January 1991 in Ramsey County, Minnesota, at age 64.1
