Mary van Sickle

     Mary van Sickle was born on 23 November 1779.1 She married William Misener, son of Peter Misener and Mary (--?--). She died on 17 October 1801 at age 21.1 She was buried in a cemetery on Lyons Creek Road north of Montrose, Niagara Falls, Welland County, Ontario. This cemetery was destroyed when the road was widened. Hers was the only stone remaining in 1910.2

The Misener Family, a manuscript by Harley Misener, says:
"Mary is believed to have died in childbirth. She is buried in a lonely grave beside the Lyon's Creek road about three or four miles from Niagara Falls, Ontario. The epitaph on her headstone reads: "Here lies the body of Mary Misoner, the wife of William Misoner, Daughter of Isaac and Jane van Sickle who was born November the 23rd, 1779 and departed this life October the 17th 1801 Aged 22 years, 10 months & 24 days. Here I Lay and Sleep in Peace". Some records say that William and Mary were married in New Jersey just before leaving for Canada in 1799."1
