A marriage registration for Alonzo and Eliza Jane has not been found. In April of 1976, Elnora Fay Lee published A Century of Bliss, a history of Bliss, Emmet County, Michigan, and some of its settlers.

Father Robert Lawrason, birth place unknown. Mother Mary Babcock, birth place unknown.
Informant G.B. Lawrason, Harbor Spring.
Date and place of burial March 9, 1909, Lakeview Cemetery.
Alonzo's mother is shown as Mary Babcock in the above death registration. Her correct name was Harriet Babcock. Alonzo himself gave her name as Harriett when he married Elnora Coleman in Harbor Springs in 1891. This agrees with his presence with his parents in early census information. It appears that Alonzo was married twice.
In A Century of Bliss by Elnora Fay Lee, 1976, Mrs. Lee has Alonzo and Eliza's twins dying in the diptheria epidemic of 1879-80. This does not agree with the twins' death registrations which appear on the same page. Both were born on May 8, 1883 and Pearl died on May 24, 1883, and Earl died on May 27, 1883. The cause of death shown for both was 'feeble from birth'.
It appears that the Lawrason family was comprised of intelligent and civic minded people. The notes for Alonzo's second wife, Alice, tell of her subscription to the Kent County atlas, her father doing likewise. Mrs. Lee's book also mentions, particularly in her chapter on the Bliss schools, that Alonzo was an early director of a school district and that his third wife, Eliza Streeter, taught school in Bliss for a time.
