| Note | Death reg 011457-89 Humphrey Twp., Muskoka Dist. William Lawrence Lawrason died 24 January, 1889. Age 58, lawyer, from affects of gun shot injury 24 days. Informant R. U. Topp, M.D., Rosseau. Religious denomination of deceased Ch. of England. William's small flat gravestone in St. Thomas Anglican Cemetery, Ullswater, Muskoka District, photo per Canadian Gravemarker Gallery, reads: William Lawrason M.A. 1830 - 1889 Information as to Julia's place of burial has not been found. Some further information is available. Sarah Ditchburn Neal, President of the Rosseau Historical Society gave some background as to the nature of William Lawrason's fatal injury to the Lawrason family. In this, she quotes Church of the Redeemer, History Booklet, page 20. The booklet tells that in January of 1889, Mr. Lawrason was accidently shot in the leg while watching a turkey shoot. Gangrene set in and he died within a few days. Ten sleighs of friends followed to his burial in Ullswater, south of Rosseau. |
